Excursion 3Visit to Ballindalloch Castle (www.ballindallochcastle.co.uk)

Known as the ' Pearl of the North ', Ballindalloch is a warm and welcoming castle set in the magnificent Spey Valley. It has been home to the Macpherson-Grants since 1546 and is one of the few privately owned castles to have been lived in continuously by its original family.

The Castle is very much a lived-in family home, which adds to its appeal. It is filled with family memorabilia, as well as a fine collection of 17th century Spanish paintings collected by Sir John Macpherson-Grant in the mid 19th century.

The original Castle dates back to the 16th Century but over the centuries the original building has been enlarged and updated.  The main tower dates is part of the original structure.

The Castle is set in magnificent grounds between the Rivers Spey and Avon.
