Excursion 4 Short cruise on Loch Ness (www.jacobite.co.uk) and visit to the ruins of Urquhart Castle (www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/drumnadrochit/urquhart)

Loch Ness is one of the largest lochs in Britain. It is 23 miles long and contains 2 cubic miles of fresh water. However, it is probably most famous for being the home of Loch Ness Monster.  You can enjoy a cruise on the Loch to take in the surrounding Highland scenery and participate in Nessie-spotting.  The cruise will include a visit to the ruins of Urquhart Castle, a ruin surrounded by Loch Ness on three sides.  This has been the site of Castle since 1230 and possibly earlier and has played a significant role in Scotland’s turbulent history.
