Tour 1 – Blair Castle (www.blair-castle.co.uk) and House of Bruar (www.houseofbruar.com)

Blair Castle, situated in the heart of Perthshire, is the ancient seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl.  The Castle’s history extends over 740 years.

The Castle in the headquarters of Europe’s only remaining private army, whose Colonel in Chief is the Duke of Atholl.  As you’d expect of an army headquarters, the Castle has a spectacular display of arms and armour.  The castle is also home to an extensive collection of paintings, furniture, porcelain and embroidery.  There is an opportunity to visit both the Castle and the beautiful gardens.

Following a visit to the Castle there is time for some retail therapy at the House of Bruar, a shopping complex specialising in Scottish produce as well as outdoor clothing.
